Stamp paper
Which paper is suitable for stamping?
Almost any type of paper is suitable for stamping. However, there are types of paper on which one stamp print will look better than on others.
First think about what you want to make and what medium you will use for this. For example, if you want to colour your stamp print with watercolour, then watercolour paper is more suitable. Water colour paper WaterArt is a good stamping paper, its fine texture brings out the details of your stamp print beautifully.
The ideal paper for coloured pencils is not too smooth but also not too coarse because then all the details will fall away.
If you use coarser stamps, for example foam stamps in a mixed media project, then a slightly firmer stamp paper is better.
It is also important to match your choice of paper to the stamping ink which one you want to use. Alcohol ink, for example, is not suitable for ordinary paper, use special Yupo paper.
Water colour paper WaterArt
WaterArt water colour paper has the firmness of water colour paper but the smoothness of ordinary paper. Its fine texture makes it suitable for colouring in stamps with Clean Color markers, for example. Perfect for painting and drawing small details. It is also very suitable for water colouring with Gansai Tambi water colours. The paper can take a lot of water without warping.
WaterArt watercolour paper is available in A5, A4 and scrap size (30.5 x 30.5 cm) in 185 and 300g.
Yupo paper
Yupo paper is a synthetic paper that retains the unique properties of both paper and plastic. It is a smooth paper which is very suitable in combination with alcohol ink. Ursus' video below shows the effect of alcohol ink on Yupo paper.

How to make your own paper in 6 steps:
- Week the pulp sheets in water.
- Break up the pulp with a hand blender. If the mixture is too solid, add a little warm water.
- Fill half a tub with water, stir the pulp into this, wait until the pulp floats to the surface. The more pulp there is, the thicker the paper will become.
- Dip the frame vertically into the paper pulp, lift it horizontally, and let it drain. As desired, sprinkle with glitter or dried flowers.
- Place the mould on the paper pulp in the frame and drain the water. Turn it over and place it on a towel or felt mat. Remove the paper from the frame.
