Knitting

What is easy to knit?

To start knitting, it is easy to knit a straight piece, for example a scarf or a potholder.

Knitting for beginners

Start with an easy stitch, for example a garter stitch. It is also easy to choose a thick wool and matching thick knitting needles. You can also choose thick wool that doesn't require knitting needles but only your hands (hand knitting). And as with most hobbies, practice makes perfect!

Knitting starter pack

Do you find knitting without help difficult? Then you will also find sets from Stafil in our range with which you can knit your own bag. Using a gauze as a base, you can knit your own bag very easily.

What can you crochet as a beginner?

A 10×10cm crochet square, also called a sampler or Granny Square named is ideal for crocheting as a beginner.
You can also join these loose patches together to form a large blanket, for example, or attach them to a bag.

Crochet for beginners free patterns

Nowadays, many free crochet patterns can be found online. Several tutorials on crochet can also be found on YouTube. Use search terms like: learn how to crochet, basic crochet stitches or granny square crochet.

Macramean

Which rope for macramé?

What twine is needed for macramé varies from project to project. The more details you want to apply in a project, the thinner the twine. The same applies to small projects, such as macraméing key rings or jewellery. Keep in mind that you need a lot of twine for macraméing. On average, each thread should be 3.5 times as long as the project you want to make. With thin yarn, you will need more twine and you will also spend longer knotting.
Our range also includes handy measuring boards for macramé.

Embroidery

Embroidering cards on paper

Embroidery on paper: this technique used to be used to teach children how to embroider. But you can also use it to give your homemade card a luxurious look. This way, embroidery is trendy again. We also have various (stitching border) templates from Marianne Design for this purpose in our range. This way, the holes for embroidering on cards are already punched in the right pattern.

Embroidery on paper free patterns

On our site, you can download various embroidery patterns for cards for free. In all kinds of themes such as embroidery patterns for Christmas, birth and animals.

Punniken

What is a good punk mill?

Prym's crochet mill is of high quality. With the help of a puncheon mill, puncheoning is a lot less time-consuming. Follow the steps from Prym's manual or video carefully. It sometimes takes a while for the knitting mill to get going properly, patience is a virtue. But after that, pinning goes very smoothly. However, it is important to choose the appropriate yarn for punning.

Which wool to use for punning?

Use a wool/yarn that is not too thick for punnicking. Especially in a punk mill, thick yarn or yarn with many 'loops' will get stuck in the small hooks. 100% cotton yarn is very suitable for punnicking, such as the Nilo 3 cotton yarn from Stafil.

What can you do with punning?

Punnelling is great for making figures. For example, make a potholder trivet by rolling up the end of the drawstring.

Darning with iron wire

When you thread iron wire through your final drawstring, you can easily make figures.
The example below shows how to make a punk name (thread name) with punk thread.
